Style Musts for Work-Life Balance

After a year of remote work, it’s way too easy to show up for Zoom meetings in your PJs! But guess what? You don’t have to sacrifice comfort to look professional! We’ve got some style tips to elevate your work-from-home wardrobe!

Style Musts for Work-Life Balance

Now that so many of us are working remotely, you’d think that would make fashion easy, right? Pajamas all day! Well, actually, it’s good for your productivity and your mental wellbeing to change out of those pajamas into something work-from-home appropriate before you start your day. This doesn’t mean you need to go all-out business formal, but it is beneficial to set-up some work-life boundaries between your you-time outfits and your work-from-home outfits. We’ve got some work-from-home wardrobe essentials to get you started!

1. Ditch the slippers—get some comfy treads!

Crocs all summer and your favorite fuzzy slippers in the winter, right? Well, maybe not! We recommend comfortable, casual sneakers for summer and a pair of low-rise fur-lined boots for winter. Both are comfy enough for work and life—but they’ll help you feel more put together!

2. Scrunchies are back!

And with good reason! They’re the perfect way to create a cute and simple updo that works for Zoom as well as it does for your next Netflix binge.

3. Swap the sweatpants for bike shorts

We’ll admit it—those saggy sweatpants are comfortable. Comfortable enough to make you crave a nap! For loungewear days, skip the sweatpants and go with bike shorts instead. They’re cute, comfortable—and they don’t give you that “just crawled out of bed” feeling.

4. Make leggings a staple

The right pair of leggings are a girl’s best friend. They’re comfortable, and they can be dressed up or down in any number of ways. While at work, pair your leggings with a sweater. Once work is over, toss the sweater in favor of your favorite oversized sweatshirt!

5. Get the jewelry basics down

Most of us aren’t going full glam for Zoom meetings—but a couple of pieces of simple jewelry will help you feel more polished and put together. Small, chunky hoop earrings are a great choice, as are simple necklaces and bracelets.

6. Add some statement pieces

Feeling a little extra? You don’t have to go with gold hoops! Work-from-home also means that you can experiment with chunky beaded earrings or a flashy necklace if you want to make a splash.

7. Invest in an awesome sweater

Like leggings, the right sweater will dress up or down with ease. Look for something comfy enough to lounge in—but make sure that the details, like cable knitting or beautiful buttons make it easy to spice things up when you get one of those last-minute Zoom calls.

8. Pretty claw clips for the win!

When you need an easy, breezy look—and you’re not feeling scrunchies—go with a jaw clip. Do a half up or a twist and use your favorite clip to secure it. For something work worthy, look for butterfly claw clips, metal clips, and other pretty designs rather than plain old plastic jaw clips.

9. You need amazing socks!

Just because you’re dressing up a little for work-from-home, that doesn’t mean you can’t indulge at least a little! And the perfect pair of socks is the best way to do that. Think plushy, soft, warm—luxurious. Little touches like this will make the workday so much more pleasant!

10. Stylish but simple dresses

The right dress doesn’t take a lot of fuss—no more effort than your favorite sweatpants—but it’ll make you feel like you’ve spent all morning getting glam. We’re not talking pencil skirts and jackets, but rather sundresses or a comfortable rib-knit dress. Perfect for those days when you want to feel dressy without a ton of morning prep time!
